If it does not move, the room is the problem more often than the phone.
This page cannot see a live session. Work the list on the computer that has the slides.
- The phone cannot see the computer
- They must be on a network that allows device-to-device traffic. Guest Wi‑Fi at hotels and conferences often blocks that. Join a hotspot you control, or a network you run. The internet is not the path after you pair.
- The camera will not scan the code
- Type the six-digit PIN instead. Bright stage lights and a dim laptop both fail cameras. The PIN is the backup, not a lesser path.
- The computer went to sleep
- The session lives on that computer. If it sleeps, the phone cannot talk to it. Keep the machine awake while you present.
- The slide does not move in Keynote or PowerPoint
- Open the deck first, then start the session. On a Mac, allow Accessibility. On Windows, if PowerPoint was started as Administrator, Pilot must be too. A browser tab only gets the arrow keys.
- Google Slides or Canva did not jump
- Those live in a tab. Pilot sends the arrow keys. There is no Canva adapter, and slide files are never uploaded. Jump-by-number needs a deck the computer can read.
- macOS still blocks Pilot
- Unsigned builds need a right-click Open until notarization. Accessibility is a separate prompt: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Turn Pilot on, then quit and reopen the app. macOS often applies that permission only at launch.
- Windows SmartScreen blocked the installer
- Unsigned setup files warn until they are signed. That is SmartScreen. It is not a failed download.
- The address is 192.168…, not a website
- Correct. The phone is opening a page the computer is serving on the local network. A public domain cannot replace that without a relay, and a relay would see the session.
